About Cody Audio
Fifty years of installs, one crew across audio, lighting and video, and a strong preference for drawings over guesswork.
Who we are
Cody Audio was founded by Cody Anderson and formed as a Minnesota company in 2018. Cody has spent more than fifty years installing systems and working as an audio engineer — long enough to have hung, tuned and torn out most of what a room can be given.
We are one crew across audio, lighting and video. That is deliberate. On most jobs those three trades arrive as three companies who meet for the first time in a ceiling, and the seams between them are where the problems live. When the same people draw the rigging, pull the cable and tune the room, there is nobody to hand the problem to.
We are based in Minneapolis and most of our work is in the Twin Cities metro and greater Minnesota, though we travel for the right project.
Credentials
Cody Audio is a registered Technology Systems Contractor in the State of Minnesota, and Cody Anderson holds the state Power Limited Technician license. Low-voltage work in Minnesota is licensed work, and a contractor who cannot show you both is not one you should have pulling cable in your building.
We carry a $2,000,000 liability policy and are bonded with the State of Minnesota. Certificates go out with the bid, not after you ask.
Rooms we’ve worked in
First Avenue. Palace Theatre. Uptown Theater. Parkway Theater. The Riviera Theatre in Chicago. Icehouse. Berlin. Mystic Lake. Normandale Lutheran. Animales BBQ Co. Hutton Arena.
Some of those are rooms we built. Some are rooms we mix in. The list is short on purpose — it is the rooms we have actually stood in, not a client logo wall.
How we work
There are two ways we come into a job. Either the design is ours — we walk the room, model it, draw it and build what we drew — or someone else has already specified the system and we are the crew that makes it real: the rigging, the wiring, the termination, the commissioning.
Both are fine. What we will not do is hang a system we have not modelled and call the result a design. Drawings before gear, every time.
